SHORT DESCRIPTION

[Electrical projects based on the availability of materials and facilities in the Institutes and market. Possible projects may be the improvement of design and construction of electromagnetic fan regulator, electronic fan regulator, choke coil, electronic ballast, power supply unit, solar power system, inverter, small transformer, small motor starter, water level controller, rewinding of single phase motor and three phase induction motor. New ideas leading to actual construction will be given due importance.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION

  • 1 Design and construct fan regulator (Electromagnetic type).
    • 1 Study the different manufacturer’s literature, catalogue or manuals.
    • 2 Sketch the working drawing and circuit diagram.
    • 3 Select the materials and size of the core.
    • 4 Select the wire size.
    • 5 Collect the materials required for construction of a fan regulator.
    • 6 Collect the tools and equipment for construction of a fan regulator.
    • 7 Construct core, base slider and covers of the fan regulator.
    • 8 Construct former for winding.
    • 9 Wind the wire on the former to manufacture coil.
    • 10 Insert core in the wound former.
    • 11 Test the winding.
    • 12 Warp winding with cotton tape and insert ampere tubes in the            terminals.

 

  • 13 Connect the terminals in tapings.
  • 14 Apply varnish to fill the core and winding.
  • 15 Bake the winding and core
  • 16 Analyze the construction cost.

  1. Re-wind a single phase motor.
    • Study the winding rules and diagram.
    • Disassemble a single phase motor.
    • Select the winding materials.
    • Select the tools & equipment for winding of motor.
    • Draw the winding diagram of motor.
    • Remove the existing damaged winding.
    • Count the number of turns and weight the removed coil.
    • lean and wash the slots by petrol.
    • Make a former for winding of coil.
    • Make winding on former.
    • Insert the leatheroid paper into the slot of stator of the motor.
    • Place the coil in the slots of the core.
    • Joint the coil as per winding diagram.
    • Put ampere tube in terminals.
    • Test the winding for continuty, insulation resistance, short circuit, open circuit and

arth or body.

  • Warp the coil with cotton tape.
  • Apply varnish and bake the coils.
  • Assemble the motor.
  • Connect power and test the performance of the motor.
  • Analyze the cost of rewinding of motor.

 

 

  1. Rewind 3-phase induction motor.
  • Study the winding diagram of a 3-phase induction motor.
  • Disassemble the stator of the motor.
  • Take out the coil from the stator of the motor.
  • Count the number of turns of one of the damaged coil.
  • Measure the size of wire of the damaged coil.
  • Select the materials required for winding.
  • Select tools and equipment for winding.
  • Construct former for making coils.
  • Wound the coils on former.
  • Clean and wash the slots.
  • Insert the insulating paper into the slots of stator of the motor.
  • Insert the coils in the slots.
  • Make group connection.
  • Test the winding of each group for open circuit, short circuit & body on earth.
  • Warp the ends of coils with cotton tape.
  • Connect the terminals of the group to the terminal posts of the terminal box.
  • Apply varnish on winding and bake.
  • Connect the motor with power line.
  • Test the motor.
  • Analyze the cost of rewinding.
